School Programs & Workshops
Each individual program is designed to fit the schedule, needs and goals of the contracting organization. Carl is comfortable presenting to any size group in any setting. As a part of the pre-planning, suggestions can be made as to how to best deliver the message.
Carl is confident in his ability to work with students of any age or grade. All of the programs include follow-up materials with suggestions for processing and further study.
My programs are designed with these factors in mind. I am confident that I have the ability to develop a program to fit the needs of every setting. I am the Wisconsin State Educator of the D.A.R.E. program.
While every school has different needs, I have successfully developed a template that has worked well for elementary schools. This is a three part presentation that can be completed in a half day session. This is important because it allows me to make presentations in two schools per day, provided they are within reasonable distances of each other.
I split the presentations up by grade level because of their developmental age, understanding, ability and attention span. The three parts of the program are as follows:
- Pre-K / 2 - This will be a 30-35 minute presentation
- 3 / 5 or 6 - This will be a 45-60 minute presentation
- Leadership - This is a 45-60 minute presentation for the class of your choice
As I have previously stated the topic for this or any other program would be selected by each individual school.
I am confident in my ability to communicate my message to groups of any age. I have successful experience with all types of presentation formats. These would include everything from keynote / lyceum school wide programs, to small group workshops.
As with all my programs the design will be developed to fit the needs and desires of each individual school. As noted in the introduction to my K-12 programs I have developed presentations for many of the topics that related to today’s adolescents.
Some of these areas include:
- Team Building
- Character
- Bullying
- A.O.D.A
- Leadership
- Conflict Resolution
- Communications
- Problem Solving
- Friendship
- Self Esteem
- Service
- Patriotism
Obstacles to Success
A meaningful look at what everyone wants for today’s youth, uses humor and activity to deliver the desired message.
Lead the Way
A personal look at leadership qualities and how they relate to each student ideal for smaller groups of student leaders.
Magic of Success
Making good decisions and working for success and happiness is a magical process. In this workshop Carl Olson will use magic and activity to explore decision making, goal setting and happiness.
Keynote Presentations
My work with staff includes keynote presentations for both educators and support staff. In these efforts I validate the important roll played by all involved with the educational process. Everyone needs to be recharged, energized and inspired. I have had great success working this staff in this way. I believe that this success comes from the fact that I have served where they are and I know their desires and concerns.
Educational Staff Workshops
My background includes three master degrees and numerous workshops and trainings. I am advocate for experiential educational methods. Carl Rogers the famous psychologist said the following: "The best learning is that which is self discovered"
Through the use of experiential methods I feel teachers are better able to reach all learners. Steven Covey's seventh habit is: "Sharpen your saw"
I believe all effective teachers want to learn practical activities and methods to bring back to their educational setting. I call these "tools" for their tool box. In my workshops I cover the current theory and background for all the information that is presented. These workshops vary in length to meet the needs of the specific setting. The in formation has relevance to all levels and educational disciplines.
